Bio

Derek is an impassioned solution-focused, trauma-informed substance use disorder and mental health professional. He has served in varying capacities over the years that include Clinical Case Manager, Diversity Equity & Inclusion Coordinator, and Medical Social Worker. He is a graduate of the University of South Florida where he earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degree in Social Work. Derek has also earned a second master’s degree in Depth Psychology with a Specialization in Jungian and Archetypal Studies from Pacifica Graduate Institute. In addition, Derek is a Master’s Level Certified Addiction Professional (MCAP), who is also trained to practice Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). Derek has over 25 years of HIV advocacy, is safe zone trained, and specializes in working with LGBTQQIA plus populations. Derek is currently working towards his Doctorate in Integrative Social Work at Saybrook University. When he is not working, or deep in his studies, you can find him at a Fleetwood Mac concert or the US Open, as he is an avid music and tennis fan.
