Dual diagnosis is having a mental health condition and a comorbid substance use disorder. Addiction can frequently be associated with mental illness; whether the mental illness is the catalyst for the addiction, or the addiction is the catalyst for the mental illness. As a dual diagnosis facility Tranquil Shores specializes in treating both the addiction and an accompanying mental illness, thus increasing the likelihood of maintaining long-term recovery.

Tranquil Shores is a Joint Commission (JCAHO) Accredited substance abuse recovery center in St. Petersburg, Florida that specializes in addiction recovery treatment programs for adults 18 years of age and older. Additionally, as an approved provider of both the Professionals Resource Network (PRN) and Intervention Project for Nurses (IPN), we are devoted to supporting medical professionals through every step of their recovery process. Tranquil Shores is licensed through Florida’s Department of Children and Family Services (DCF).
At Tranquil Shores, our commitment to personalized care is evident in our remarkable 3-to-1 client-to-counselor ratio. This ratio is remarkably low compared to industry standards. Typical client-to-counselor ratios at most rehabilitation facilities are as high as 8-15 clients per counselor! Our 3-to-1 ratio allows our counselors to focus significantly more time and attention on your recovery.

From day one, you will benefit from focused attention tailored to your needs, providing an opportunity to delve deeper into therapy sessions and all aspects of your treatment. Our priority is to foster meaningful relationships between clients and counselors, which is why we ensure that our staff are assigned an appropriate caseload.

The client counselor relationship is an integral part of recovery. Here at Tranquil Shores, we take that relationship very seriously. Careful consideration is taken to match clients to the staff counselor that is able to best serve the clients needs, significantly increasing  the likelihood of maintaining long-term recovery.
